Fees for New Members

These guidance notes replace those previously published on this website on 22 December 2010 and the earlier KAA "Club Guide - Affiliation and Membership Process" which was withdrawn during 2010. Please note also that these notes apply only to new membership applications up to 30 September 2011.

Unfortunately it will be necessary to make further changes to cover renewals for the 2011-2012 membership year and new membership applications from 01 October 2011; further guidance notes will be issued nearer the time and a fully revised version of the KAA Club Guide is planned and expected to be available once the new membership system has settled down.

Should you receive the ArcheryGB membership renewal forms for 2011-2012 before this guidance is available, please do not delay processing the ArcheryGB renewals and fees, as delays might compromise your members' benefits. However, please keep a copy of the renewal form you send to ArcheryGB, but do not send off regional or county fees until the guidance notes are published.

The ArcheryGB membership process was changed in time for the start of the 2010-2011 membership year and club secretaries should have received information from ArcheryGB during July 2010 on how the new system works.

However it is apparent that there is some confusion about what clubs are required to do in relation to new members and SCAS has changed the way it will deal with membership fees in future. This updated temporary guide sets out the main points that clubs need to be aware of.

If you have any queries relating to the membership process or fees and this guide does not provide you with an answer, or if you require further copies of the application form for new members, please contact the KAA Treasurer.

The Membership Year

ArcheryGB, SCAS and the KAA all use the same fixed membership year, which applies to all members, irrespective of when they first joined. That membership year runs from 01 October to 30 September in the following calendar year. All renewals of membership then fall due by 30 September each year.

Clubs are entitled to organise their membership process and fees to suit their local requirements - their membership year and how they calculate fees might differ from the national, regional and county bodies.

ArcheryGB (national) Membership

New affiliations submitted on or after 01 January in any membership year now attract a reduced membership fee for that first year, but membership will run only to the end of the current membership year (i.e. 30 September); this fee reduction replaces the previous system whereby new members who joined on or after 01 May would receive membership for the remainder of the current membership year plus the whole of the next.

This concession is not available to existing members who are late paying their membership fees or to lapsed members who are rejoining.

Important Note: Membership applications must be submitted for new members, even if there is no ArcheryGB fee to pay (e.g. new junior members of an existing Junior Club); if no membership application is submitted, ArcheryGB will have no record of the new member and they will not receive any membership benefits - including insurance cover.

All ArcheryGB membership fees must be sent direct to ArcheryGB with the corresponding membership application forms; they must not be sent via the county or regional treasurers.

Regional and county membership fees are dealt with separately and must not be sent to ArcheryGB - how to deal with them is described below.

SCAS (regional) Membership

The decision was made at the 2011 SCAS AGM to reduce the work involved in administering collection of their fees by charging each county an amount based on the total number of members at the end of the previous membership year, the amount to be paid by the county association by mid December. This decision effectively removes with immediate effect the concessionary pricing for new members and the full regional fee is payable when a new member first joins and at each subsequent renewal.

Important Note: All regional membership fees must be combined with the county fees and sent as a single cheque direct to the KAA Treasurer with a copy of the corresponding ArcheryGB membership application forms; all of these fees should be combined in a single cheque, made payable to "Kent Archery Association".

Regional fees must not be sent to ArcheryGB.

KAA (county) Membership

Because of the low level of membership fees charged by KAA, the KAA has decided that it is impractical to pro-rate fees for new members. Instead, the full county fee is payable when a new member first joins and at each subsequent renewal, except that new members joining on or after 01 July in any year are not required to pay a fee for the remainder of that membership year.

This concession is not available to existing members who are late paying their membership fees or to lapsed members who are rejoining.

Important Note: All county membership fees must be combined with the regional fees and sent as a single cheque direct to the KAA Treasurer with a copy of the corresponding ArcheryGB membership application forms; all of these fees should be combined in a single cheque, made payable to "Kent Archery Association".

County fees must not be sent to the SCAS Treasurer or to ArcheryGB.

Additional information about KAA Membership is available from the KAA Policy - Membership.

Important Note: Membership applications must be submitted for new archers, even if there is no county fee to pay (e.g. new junior members of an existing Junior Club, new members after 01 July); if no membership application is submitted, the new archer may not be acknowledged and not receive any membership benefits.

Current Membership Fees (2010-2011)

En-Bloc Club Fees

Some types of club pay an "en-bloc" membership fee that replaces the requirement for each member to pay a separate membership fee, but this is subject to the club being specifically registered with ArcheryGB as that type of club. Each club is free to decide whether and how it will recover these en-bloc fees from its members.

The following types of club pay an en-bloc fee:

Junior ClubDisabled ClubSchools ClubUniversity Club
ArcheryGB£ 50.00£ 0.00£ 50.00£110.00
SCAS£ 5.00£ 0.00£ 5.00£ 10.00
KAA£ 6.50£ 0.00£ 0.00£ 6.50
Total£ 61.50£ 0.00£ 55.00£126.50

Direct Membership

ArcheryGB allows direct membership, subject to certain restrictions. Anyone who becomes a direct member of ArcheryGB is also required to arrange direct membership of a regional and county association.

Fees for direct membership are substantially higher than for membership via a club; this is to cover the additional administrative costs involved. The following direct membership fees apply and there is no reduction for new members who join part way through a membership year:

SeniorJunior
ArcheryGB£43.00£42.00
SCAS£ 4.00n/a
KAA£ 6.50n/a
Total£53.50n/a

Fees for Club Members

Except where a club pays an "en-bloc" fee, every shooting member of the club is required to pay an annual membership fee to the national, regional and county governing bodies. Unless Direct/Individual Membership has been agreed, membership must be arranged through the club; the following fees apply to new applications:
